Former Liverpool player Jason McAteer believes his old club can win the treble in the 2025/26 season. The Reds have made exciting additions this summer with the arrivals of Jeremy Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and most recently Hugo Ekitike. Adding to the already impressive squad of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, McAteer believes the Reds have what it takes to reach the treble.

“If Liverpool win a second consecutive Premier League title, it would be fantastic,” McAteer told William Hill Vegas. “They don’t need to win the Champions League to say it was a great season, but to be a true legend you need to win both trophies, or even the treble like Manchester United did in 1998/99.”

“Liverpool have been favourites for the past few years in all four competitions. Signing players this summer means they now have a squad ready to go.”

“Players like Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike mean they have a squad and players ready not just to compete, but to win the Champions League and the Premier League – quality and experience, no doubt about it.”

“When you have a player like Mohamed Salah who is still producing 30 goals a season and a world-class centre-back like Virgil van Dijk, Alisson who keeps so many clean sheets in goal, there’s no reason why Liverpool can’t win the treble.”

“There’s a reason why winning the treble doesn’t happen very often – Manchester City did it recently, but we all know the pressure, fatigue, injuries and mental stress are much higher.”

“But they are prepared for that – Arne Slot’s team has the ingredients to create a legend as well.”
